How to use our products

We're keen that you get the absolute best from our products.  Here are some tips to make the most of your dooks!

Salt Soaps:

Storage -

Our soaps are very sensitive to humidity. Please store in a warm, dry place.  If they are stored somewhere damp, small droplets of water will appear on the bar's surface.  This doesn't damage the bar and it's still perfectly fine to use.

Usage -

Our soaps are packed full of Himalayan Salt and can be quite exfoliating. We recommend lathering up with the soaps and washing with the thick lather.  If you like to rub a soap bar directly onto your skin, then perhaps wrap it in a flannel first or try our soap saver - these bags will protect your delicate skin from any of the more scratchy salt grains.

Clay Masks:

Dook's Clay Masks are sold in powder form, you activate your mask at home when you mix liquid to it.

Use approximately one teaspoon of the Clay Mask per application.

Apply the mask across the face and neck area, avoiding the eyes.  Leave on for just 5 minutes - don't allow to dry.

Remove gently with warm water and a flannel.

In its simplest form you can simply mix equal parts water and mask.  Mix in the palm of your hand, or in a small ramekin or bowl.  Once you have a paste-like consistency you can then apply that to damp skin on your face and neck.

You can also mix your mask with a range of different liquids in order to customise the mask to your skin's needs:

Yoghurt - A plain yoghurt is mildly acidic and creates a lovely soothing creamy base for a mask. The lactic acids help to exfoliate and brighten your skin.

Raw Honey - Honey is full of glycerin which is a great humectant or moisturiser.  Mix your mask with honey if you've very sensitive skin or your skin feels the need of nourishment.

Aloe vera juice -  Aloe vera juice works very well with our masks it is naturally soothing, has mild astringent properties and can help to balance oil production.

Hydrosol - A hydrosol is the aromatic water left after the distillation of an essential oil. Fragrant and full of antioxidants and can help tone the skin.

Cooled Herbal Tea - Chamomile can soothe irritated skin, Green Tea is high in antioxidants, and peppermint tea is very cooling.

You can also try with most juices, pureed fruit and even mashed avocado!  Have fun and let us know what works best for you!

Face Oil

Our Face Oil is great for daily use, use it in the morning and/or at night.

Apply after cleansing on damp skin.  The Face Oil acts as an emollient (helps to trap moisture near the skin), so the more damp your skin when you apply it the better.

You can also add a couple of drops into your daily moisturiser if you feel you need a little more nourishing perhaps when the weather changes.
